Luxury Villas and Townhouses on Yal-Ku Lagoon: Akumal, Mexico

About Us

David and Nancy Poor
We are David and Nancy and we are pleased to be able to share with you our love of Akumal and Yal Ku lagoon.

We fell in love with Yal Ku about 15 years ago when Nancy's parents brought us to Mexico for a week-long family get together, and we have been returning to Akumal off and on ever since.

In 2005 we found that Casa Delfín was for sale. It needed alot of work as it only had 50 AMP electrical service and not much had been done inside or out other than routine maintenance. After hurricane Emily we were able to take begin work on Denfín.

With support and guidance from René, we spent much of 2005 and 2006 fixing, restoring, and enhancing Delfín. In January, 2007, we were together in the rooftop pool at night discussing what fun we had had and what we would do next. We both looked over at the Romero complex which had suffered greatly from ten years of neglect... two weeks later we had an agreement of sale.

As with Casa Delfin, Nancy did all of the decorations and selected the artwork and furniture while David concentrated on all matters of construction. We began work in July, and, with wonderful support from many teams of Mexican workers, we were able to turn the townhouse shells into finished homes and totally renovate Casa Romero in time for the 2007 Holiday season.

Now we will try to relax and enjoy. We will spend 3-4 months in Akumal spread over the year: hopefully we will see you there!

For the rest of the year, you can find us at our home just north of Philadelphia or traveling. We enjoy being "Grandpa" and "Nana" to our grandchildren, most of whom live in the area. When we are lucky, our children and grandchildren come to visit in Akumal.

We support the efforts to promote sustainable tourism and protection of the ecology and work with both the Akuimal Council and Centro Ecológico Akumal. We also invite you to visit the Friends of Yal Ku website or other sites listed on our links section.

Thank you for visiting with us.
